An egg salad sandwich is a classic and simple dish made from chopped hard-boiled eggs mixed with mayonnaise, mustard, and seasonings, then spread between two slices of bread. It’s a comforting meal that’s quick and easy to prepare. Here’s a basic recipe for you to try:
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs (hard-boiled)
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery (optional for crunch)
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 slices of bread (your choice – white, whole wheat, or any preferred type)
- Lettuce or tomato slices (optional)
Instructions:
- Hard boil the eggs: Place eggs in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 9-10 minutes. Once done, remove from water, let cool, and peel the shells.
- Prepare the egg salad: Chop the peeled eggs into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped celery, and red onion. Stir until everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the sandwich: Spread the egg salad mixture onto one slice of bread. Add optional toppings like lettuce or tomato. Top with the second slice of bread.
- Serve: Cut the sandwich into halves or quarters, and enjoy!
