Cinnamon Buns

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)

  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • â…“ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling:

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the cream cheese icing:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Make the dough:

    • In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

    • Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.

    • Knead for 5–8 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.

    • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour (or until doubled in size).

  2. Prepare the filling:

    • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.

    • Roll dough into a rectangle (~16×12 inches). Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon-sugar mix.

  3. Form the rolls:

    • Roll up tightly from the long side, then slice into 12 even pieces.

    • Place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise another 30 minutes.

  4. Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Make the icing:

    • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt; mix until creamy.

    • Spread over warm buns just out of the oven.
