Carnivore Soup

Carnivore soup is a hearty, protein-packed dish designed to align with the carnivore diet, which focuses on animal products like meat, fish, and animal fats, while excluding plant-based foods. A typical carnivore soup would include a combination of meat, bone broth, and sometimes organ meats, all simmered together to create a flavorful and filling dish.
Here’s a simple recipe for a carnivore soup:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef stew meat (or any meat of your choice)
- 1 lb beef bones (for bone broth)
- 6 cups beef broth (or more depending on how soupy you like it)
- 1-2 tbsp animal fat (e.g., tallow, lard, or butter)
- 1 onion (optional, if you’re including non-strict carnivore ingredients)
- Salt, pepper, and any carnivore-friendly seasonings (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the bone broth:
- In a large pot, add the beef bones and cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Let the bones simmer for 4-6 hours (or longer for a richer broth), adding more water if necessary to keep the bones covered. You can also use a slow cooker or pressure cooker to speed up this process.
- Cook the meat:
- In a separate pan, heat the animal fat over medium heat and brown the beef stew meat until it’s nicely seared on all sides. If using organ meats (like liver), add them in towards the end to avoid overcooking.
- Combine the broth and meat:
- Once the bone broth is ready, strain out the bones and add the broth back into the pot. Add the browned beef stew meat to the pot as well.
- Simmer everything together for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Season:
- Add salt, pepper, or any carnivore-friendly spices like garlic powder, onion powder, or thyme, if desired. Remember, the simplicity of carnivore cooking relies on minimal seasoning, but it’s up to your preference.
- Serve:
- Once everything is cooked and the flavors have developed, serve the soup hot and enjoy!
Notes:
- You can include organ meats such as liver or heart for added nutrition.
- If you’re on a strict carnivore diet, avoid adding vegetables or any non-animal ingredients.
- Bone broth is a great source of collagen, which supports joint and gut health, making this soup not only filling but nourishing too!
